July 10th 1996 Carleton Mi I have completed the conversion of the following text from it's original
mimeograph form into this computer document. I have left many know errors
in place since they existed in the original. In all cases the errors that
I am aware of are of the spelling nature. I have made every effort to proof
and verify the integrity of the data while changing it's form. Donald Jay Hilliker HILLIKER FAMILY TREE PREFACE June 20, 1975 The Hilliker Family Tree on tho following pages has taken many year to compile and is the result not only of my efforts but I had the assistance of many others who have supplied information. I sincerely thank those who have contributed. It is still far from complete, although I believe it I reasonably accurate as far as it goes as I have not included anything which appeared to bo doubtful. However, it is apparent that some branches of the family are left out completely or that is shown is sketchy. This appears because I have been unable to learn where they are or, in a few cases, I suspect there are those who are reluctant to divulge anything about their immediate families. I certainly hope that no one will feel neglected because of missing information. Some of the information is sadly out of date but in recent years I have adopted a policy of noting tho date of receipt. For instance, 2/75 means that that particular information was acquired in February 1975 and that it was correct to tho best of my knowledge at that time. It is well nigh impossible to keep in touch constantly with all branches of tho family but when I am advised of any change I note it in the master file and update it as above. The residence of young children is not usually shown for the sake of brevity as it can be assumed that they re living with their parents. The numbering system is abbreviated to show in each family only the number of each child. The full number Is shown at the marriage information. For instance Henry I. Hilliker 18 number ll and his fourth child is John Hilliker and acquires the number 114. John Hilliker's third child Is Edwa Alva Hilliker and acquires tho number 1143. It will be noted that all persons having equal digits in their numbers are in the same generation. Relationships may be readily determined by the numbers. For instance, 182 and 185 are brother and sister, 1822 and 1854 are first cousins. 18222 and 18541 are second cousins. In other word. If only the last digit is different, they are brothers and sister; if the last two digits are different, they are first cousins if the last three are different, they are second cousins and on. The index will bo helpful in locating persons more readily. A word of
explanation is in order as to souses. They acquire the same number as the
lineal descendant but with the added letter as for the first spouse the
letter b for the second spouse and so on. The following abbreviations are
used: b. - born d. - died m. - married bur. - buried I hope that all will enjoy examining tho Hilliker Family Tree and that
the information contained herein will provide a reference for future generations.
Sincerely HILLIKER FAMILY TREE | June 20, 1975 HENRY HILLIKER of Germany died Dec. 29, 1815. 1 John Hilliker, b. Fob. 28, 1778, t. Oct. 14, 1857, moved to Norwich, Ont. from Scipio, Now York about 1800 or 1810 The following information was obtained from tombstones in the Norwich Cemetery, Ontario Henry W. Hilliker, a native of Dutchess County, Now York tied Sept. 29, 1839, ago 71 years. Wife of Henry W. Hilliker (without naming her) died in 1834, age 55. William Hilliker, died Aug. 16, 1825, ago 67 years. Deborah, his wife, died Aug. 16, 1825 (same day) ago 66 years. Joshua Done Hilliker, native o of Newburg, New York died in 1824 in his 19th year. Possibly Henry W. and William were bothers of either Henry or John above and Joshua may be a son of Henry W. or William. It is possible, too, that Henry was a grandfather of John and that William and Deborah were tho parents of John. They were 20 and 19 approximately at the time he was born. 1 JOHN HILLIKER m.
